FASHION PAUSE: Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala

The Oscars of fashion, the 2014 Met Gala,  took place last night in an effort to raise funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institutes. New York City also was invaded by most of Hollywood's elite in their most glammed of glam costumes for a night.

This year's gala paid tribute to Charles James who has been affectionately known as America's best known couturier. The theme: "Charles James: Beyond fashion".

Check a few notables in attendance. Some times when there's an abundance of lovely fashion I see no need for worst dressed attendees getting notoriety but in this instance I really didn't care for much of the looks from last night soooo...

Anna Winotur in Chanel

Lupita Nyong'o in Prada

A fashionably late Beyonce in custom Givenchy couture

Although Kim Kardashian looked awkward in her Lanvin gown the gown nonetheless was beautiful and would have looked like so had it been a little more tailored. Or maybe it was her accessory of the evening...

A flawless Kendall Jenner held it down for tweens in this Top Shop gown.

I really like this Balmain look on Rosie Huntington-Whiteley for last year's punk rock theme.

But it reminds me of this Fausto Puglis number Kim Kardashian was seen in randomly last year.

Sarah Jessica Parker in Oscar de la Renta.

Victoria Beckahm in Victoria Beckham and later on that night David Beckham got his turn...hopefully.

Where did Michelle Williams think she was going in this Louis Vuitton number?

My favorite look of the night was seeing these two beautiful successful African American women posed side by side.

Rihanna chose to a Stella McCartney two piece number.

Jay Z also cute on the red carpet pretending to propose to his wife...make sure y'all get them On The Run tickets!!

Other than that I wasn't too blown away by the event but it was fashionable and for a good cause...
