Taraji P. Henson Helps Make Emmy History

My hometown girl,in my mind, Taraji P. Henson has just made history, along with Viola Davis, becoming thee first TWO African American actresses to be nominated at the same time for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series at the 2015 Emmys. Taraji scored her nomination for her role as Cookie Lyon on the hit Fox hip hop drama Empire. This is also the first Emmy nomination for Henson as well.

Although this sounds like great news for Empire there is a bit of scandal here. Empire did not garner any other nominations other than Henson. Since the shows premiere in January of this year it has received nothing but rave reviews so you can imagine how many people thought the writers and other actors such as Terrence Howard would be nominated but they weren't.

“Really? Wow. That’s a real surprise. I don’t do the show by myself. And Cookie is nothing without Lucious. She is nothing without her family.” - Henson's reaction to the snubs.

However the show's costume designer Paolo Nieddu did garner a nomination and a congratulatory video from the show's co-creator Lee Daniels

Although Daniels was very congratulatory to Paolo and Taraji he had a few choice words for the Emmys.

Anywho, congrats Taraji and Ms. Davis!!
