Pics: Beyonce Wows At The U.N.

The United Nations General Assembly Hall was serenaded by a performance of I Was Here by Beyonce this past Friday in honor of  World Humanitarian Day which is August 19th. Beyonce had cryptically hinted of the day on her personal Tumblr for a couple of weeks now but it wasn't until about a week ago that we knew what Beyonce was referring to.

Beyonce's performance was filmed and is set to be released on the 19th of August for a global campaign to help those in need. Her performance included images around the world struck by disaster and poverty  stricken regions shown on a screen behind her.

On Beyonce's Tumblr she has suggested ways that everyone can leave their mark by helping someone in need big or small no matter the capacity.

Among celebrities in attendance were Julia Stiles, music producer The Dream as well as Anderson Cooper who hosted for the evening.

Beyonce also sat down for an interview, as did a couple other humanitarians, with Anderson to further discuss the campaign.
