VIDEO: Denzel Washington Delivers Inspiring Commencement Speech
This is what I like to call graduation season. Typically around Mother's Day weekend we begin to see an influx of students and families celebrating the accomplishments of graduating college and/or high school students.
Along with this time of the season we tend to see celebrities, and the First Lady, delivering commencement speeches at colleges as well as obtaining their very own honorary degrees. For instance, rapper/actor Common received his honorary degree and delivered the commencement speech at Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina this past weekend.
Also over the weekend, actor Denzel Washington delivered a heartfelt commencement speech to the graduating class of 2015 at historically black college Dillard University. Washington spoke to the graduates and attendees in Louisiana about his struggles in college as well as offering the advice of putting "God first in everything you do".
'Number one, put God first in everything you do. Everything that you think you see in me and everything you think I've accomplished and everything you think I have... everything I have is by the grace of God, understand that. It's a gift.' - DW
