NEW VIDEO: Jay Z "Picasso Baby"
Jay Z's highly anticipated art meets hip hop video for "Picasso Baby: a Performance Art Film" premiered this past Friday night on HBO following the rapper's appearance on Bill Maher's show.
Check out the captivating 10 minute video directed by Mark Romanek who edited 30 hours worth of footage that was captured by eight different cameras.
This is a part of the new rules I've been waiting to see.
We've been quite privy to the details of the video and its concept thanks to Twitter, Instagram and Vine videos but I don't think anyone was expecting what we saw just saw. Jay Z was humanized by this not your average music video.
We sawa spontaneous Jay Z interacting with fans of all ages all while the rapper flashed smiles and frequently let out laughs. The rawness of the video featuring the track and Jay actually rapping to a room filled to capacity was something we've never seen from the rapper which was fulfilling in a way.
Stepping outside of comformity is always appreciated around these parts. All in all this was a great video.
The video's closing featuring the faces of art professionals and supporting fans had to be the highlight of the video for me. A close runner up was Taraji P. Henson's face when Jay mentioned not putting his c**k in Fox's (Foxy Brown) box.
