Idris Elba Not "Suave" Enough To Play Bond

If Idris Elba is anything it is sexy. I don't find him to be my cup of tea but I know he's attractive. Hell, half the people who don't find him sexy probably thinks sexy when they hear his name. However, that is not what comes to mind when James Bond author Andrew Horowitz thinks of Elba.
There have been whispers for a few years now suggesting that  Elba play James Bond in the next installment film. But not everybody is on board for the role for Idris.
In a lengthy interview with The Daily Mail, Horowitz called Elba "too rough" and "too street" to the play the "suave" Bond character he's been publicly nominated to play.   Horrowitz claims this was no a race issue.
‘For me, Idris Elba is a bit too rough to play the part. It’s not a colour issue. I think he is probably a bit too “street” for Bond. Is it a question of being suave? Yeah.’
Wasn't Bond homeless (living on the streets) at one time? As if playing a dapper street thug in HBO's The Wire has fit the bill for his entire life. If there is anything Idris can do it's be versatile. Isn't that what acting is all about? Portraying (acting) someone else?
Since his hefty claims Horowitz has apologized via Twitter.

During the interview, Horrowitz claimed this was no a race issue.
‘Idris Elba is a terrific actor, but I can think of other black actors who would do it better.’
He names Adrian Lester, star of Hustle.
In any event, this is great publicity for Horowitz's new book: Trigger Mortis.
