Serena Williams Defeats Older Sister Venus Williams

If there ever was a such thing as bitter sweet victory Serena Williams beating her older sister Venus Williams at yesterdays US Open quarter-finals has to be ONE.

Both women deserve to be championed. Far beyond worthy of their successes.

She’s the toughest opponent I’ve ever played in my life and the best person I know. It’s going against your best friend and at the same time going against the greatest competitior in women’s tennis.” - Serena Williams

The match was very close with Serena winning by one point.

Now at number 1, Willaims will move on to the semi-finals on Thursday in New York. With the hopes of being the first woman in history since Steffi Graf in 1988 to win all four majors in a single year.

I am so proud to write this post. Serena AND Venus are a breath of fresh air when it comes to positive images of women in the media.

And speaking of positive images, Oprah and Gayle King were on hand to witness history as well as Donald Trump, Nas, and Kim Kardashian just to name a few.
