Yesterday marked 14 years since the tragic passing of Aaliyah . Though I've never met her, I believe every beautiful word that I hear about her from those who have. Adding to the list of many that adore her still to this day is Janet Jackson . Janet publicly released a short heartfelt letter to Aaliyah via social media . Aaliyah was a big fan of Janet's and once said she mentions her in every interview with the hopes of one day meeting her.

March 4, 1993 - July 26, 2015  It is with sadness in my heart that I write this post confirming the death of Bobbi Kristina Brown , the daughter of the late Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown . Six months after slipping into a comma the 22-year old passed away at an Atlanta hospice. Brown was found unconscious in late January at her Georgia home she shared with boyfriend Nick Gordon . Bobbi Kristina was found face down and unconscious in a bath tub as her mother was eerily found three years earlier. Rest in eternal peace,  Krissy .

This was such sad news to come by over the weekend. My affection for reality television probably was escalated because of this man and his brother. Ahmad Givens , a.k.a. Real, one of the stars of VH1's " Real Chance of Love " has died after a long battle with cancer ... according to his brother. Real's brother Chance tells TMZ ... the reality star's condition worsened after he took a fall in January ... he was bedridden ever since. We're told Real was having trouble with vision and speech Friday night during a family visit ... and they had a feeling the end was near.  He passed away hours later. As we previously reported ... the reality star was diagnosed with  stage 4 colon cancer  in 2013. Real  underwent surgery  and things were looking positive, but earlier this year the cancer returned and he  began chemotherapy treatments . I'm not a huge sports fan but I do love the Dallas Cowboys and will admit half the time I don't know what is going on but I know for a fact when we loose or win. With that said yesterday when I learned of the death of ESPN sports anchor Stuart Scott ' s passing I was emotionally touched. Touched as in tears, hurt, shock and awe. I wasn't well-versed with his career but I knew who he was. I knew that he had been battling cancer since 2007. I heard his acceptance at this last year's ESPYS where he accepted the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance . Still very very shocked and emotional by his passing but enough about me. My heart goes out to Stuart's daughters, family, friends, colleagues and even fans. I am literally at a loss of words over the news that Joan Rivers passed away today. In my mind I knew she'd pull through. My thoughts are with her daughter Melissa Rivers and beyond. "It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my mother, Joan Rivers," Melissa Rivers said in a written statement today. "She passed peacefully at 1:17 p.m. surrounded by family and close friends. Growing up as an 80s baby Mrs. Doubtfire  was my most obviously  first introduction to Robin Williams. After our initial introduction his face and character(s) were etched in my head as a guy that was insanely comical. With his passing   I pray his legacy isn't diminished by his personal trials yet they allow someone (or persons) to know they're not alone in theirs and there are other options. I pray someone has been to convinced to help themselves or a loved one in a similar situation. Although the comedic world and a family has lost a beloved figure there's always a blessing in every storm...so I believe. Legendary soul singer Bobby Womack passed away Friday (June 27) at the age of 70. The news was confirmed by Womack's publicist Sonya Kolowrat but the cause of death has yet to be released. I have a soft spot for Mr. Womack's music. So much so that I don't care to share too much about what he/his music means to me but to simply highlight that I am a tremendous  fan of the man's work. RIP Mr. Womack!! I type this with the utmost sincerity and know that your music will live on far beyond many of our memories and imaginations.

I think it's kind of odd to somewhat celebrate the day some died, as today is the day Michael Jackson died five years ago, but rather honor them in a way best fitting to what they meant to YOU. With that said....rest in peace to the King of Pop!! Gone but NEVER forgotten.

At the golden age of 91 world renowned actress Ruby Dee has passed away. (CNN)   -- Ruby Dee, the award-winning actress whose seven-decade career included triumphs on stage and screen, has died. She was 91. Dee died peacefully at her New Rochelle, New York, home on Wednesday, according to her representative, Michael Livingston. Dee -- often with her late husband, Ossie Davis -- was a formidable force in both the performing arts community and the civil rights movement. She was friends with Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X and received the Frederick Douglass Award in 1970 from the National Urban League. Davis preceded his wife in death in 2005. Comedian and actor Tracy Morgan was involved in a fatal car crash early Sunday morning in NYC. The crash has left one of Tracy's closest friend/ fellow comedian Jimmy Mack dead and Morgan in critical condition. (CNN)  -- Tracy Morgan remained in critical condition Sunday but appeared to show signs of improvement after a car wreck a day earlier that killed another passenger, the comedian's publicist said. "He has been more responsive today, which is an incredibly encouraging sign," Lewis Kay said. Morgan's limo van was hit by a tractor-trailer on the New Jersey Turnpike at about 1 a.m. Saturday, according to Sgt. Gregory Williams of New Jersey State Police. Morgan suffered several injuries, including broken ribs, a broken nose, a broken leg and a broken femur. A Caucasian 911 dispatcher was overheard  making remarks about Oprah Winfrey during the 911 call from Maya Angelou's caretaker on the day of her passing . The dispatchers was citing some comments Winfrey made regarding racism in an interview for her movie  The Butler . Nothing derogatory about  Ms. Angelou was said but today the gentleman has been suspended and has issued an apology to the Angelou family. World-renowned poetess, author, activist and overall phenomenal woman Maya Angelou has died at the age of 86. (CNN)  -- Maya Angelou, a renowned poet, novelist and actress whose work defied description under a simple label, has died, her literary agent, Helen Brann, said Wednesday. She died at her home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Brann said. I know for a fact Ms. Angelou's legacy and works will live on in honor of her presence in our lifetime. The free bird leaps on the back of the wind and floats downstream till the current ends and dips his wings in the orange sun rays and dares to claim the sky. But a bird that stalks down his narrow cage can seldom see through his bars of rage his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing. Coffee Young Women Addidas Maybe not in that order... Anywho, Eddie Murphy and his longtime girlfriend (10 minutes) Paige Butcher were spotted earlier this week grabbing coffee Did Eddie NAUGHT shake this guy's hand? How odd is it that you rarely (basically never) see him and Paige out and about anywhere but getting coffee? Does Eddie own the store? Is he candidly promoting coffee? Hell, is he endorsing Addidas track suits? This relationship is so odd. It's like watching the remake of Groundhog Day (RIP Harold Ramis ). Eddie, take that girl somewhere and put on some clothes!!

With many people calling for/waiting for Will Smith to say something about the passing of James Avery although Jada Pinkett Smith did so immediately. Will took his time speaking of Uncle Phil  very eloquently with few but very heart felt words via his Facebook page . Some of my greatest lessons in Acting, Living and being a respectable human being came through James Avery. Every young man needs an Uncle Phil. Rest in Peace "This photo was the last time we were together"  Well done.

This past Friday (Jan.2) Scott Disick 's father, Jeffrey Disick ,  passed away in California. It was only back in November of 2013 that Scott's mom, Bonnie Disick , also passed away at the family's Long Island home. At this time there has been no word on the cause of death for Scott's dad but his mother was said to have battled a "long illness". Both parents were 63 at the time of their passing. I sincerely send my condolences to Scott. Losing a parent is hard but to lose both parental units almost back to back has to be heart wrenching for the Disicks only child. E! News has reported that Scott was said to be "beside himself" which one could only understand but the most recent picture of Scott has him appearing to be in decent spirits with his girlfriend and the mother of his children Kourtney Kardashian by his side. I think it's the perfect time, if all is well with them, for these two to get hitched.

James Avery , known affectionately by many as "Uncle Phil" from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air , passed away last night (Dec 31) at the age of 68. Sources close to the actor tell TMZ he died in an Glendale, CA hospital last night. Avery had undergone  open heart surgery  and took a turn for the worse late yesterday.   And we're told ... his wife, Barbara, had been at his bedside but left for a short period of time and when she came back ... she learned he had just died. R.I.P Uncle Phil.  Let the reruns and tears begin... Source
