There were multiple rallies that took place over the weekend in honor of Trayvon Martin as well as in an attempt to persuade the Justice Department to pursue additional charges against acquitted gunman George Zimmerman  for violating Trayon's civil rights. Of those more than 100 rallies was the Manhattan rally attended by over 2000 people including Beyonce , Jay Z and Tina Knowles . Rev. Al Sharpton  announced the power couple's attendance siting that they did not want to speak. "Jay-Z and Beyonce said they didn't want to speak and they didn't come for a photo op," Sharpton said, according to reports. 'I'm a father. Beyoncé is a mother.' We all feel the pain and apprehension – the laws must protect everybody, or it doesn't protect anybody ... We do not come from hate, we come from love of children." Yesterday Solange didn't just take to Twitter with her frustrations over the non guilty verdict in the Trayvon Martin murder case but she also took to Borough Hall in Brooklyn for a rally she helped organized. Along with Solange, who held a plaque bearing the words of the late great Malcom X ,   were hundreds of people who came in agreeance peacefully. "A southeast Texas town with a history of racial unrest on Monday fired two white police officers recently captured on video slamming a black woman’s head into a countertop and wrestling her to the ground." My heart really wants to believe the woman who helped the officer's contain the woman in their custody was the one who blew the whistle on all this. Maybe she help the woman in the "cell" to stop the police brutality she was in the process of receiving. No matter how many times I see shit like this it's still hard to believe someone could actually be so cruel...I know some good people still exist in this here ole world. BTW, this happened on May 5.
