Change.org has opened a petition to Stop the George Zimmerman Celebrity Boxing Match ...and I will sign it. There's so many things wrong with this picture. First of all, he is NOT  a celebrity and why in the hell would anyone want to further his spotlight all while adding money to his bank account. Second, he's open to fighting an African American male and has reportedly said that he'd like to fight Kanye West or DMX while rapper The Game has volunteered his physical efforts. Here's my thing, a man that is infamously known for killing an unarmed teenage African American male and got off   has requested to fight an African American male....do we not see the issue here? And to make matters worse both DMX and The Game have expressed their need to fight him for Trayvon and all African Americans. FYI idiots, don't speak for me!!! Zimmerman has reportedly been training like CRAZY for this fight that is set to take place on March 1 but what happens if he wi...

There were multiple rallies that took place over the weekend in honor of Trayvon Martin as well as in an attempt to persuade the Justice Department to pursue additional charges against acquitted gunman George Zimmerman  for violating Trayon's civil rights. Of those more than 100 rallies was the Manhattan rally attended by over 2000 people including Beyonce , Jay Z and Tina Knowles . Rev. Al Sharpton  announced the power couple's attendance siting that they did not want to speak. "Jay-Z and Beyonce said they didn't want to speak and they didn't come for a photo op," Sharpton said, according to reports. 'I'm a father. Beyoncé is a mother.' We all feel the pain and apprehension – the laws must protect everybody, or it doesn't protect anybody ... We do not come from hate, we come from love of children." Also in attendance at the rallies were the parents of Trayvon Martin. Trayvon's mom attended the NYC rally while ...

Although it has been over a week since George Zimmerman 's acquittal of the murder of Trayvon Martin   that hasn't stopped millions of people including celebrities from discussing the issue at hand. Scandal star Columbus Short has penned a heartfelt letter in the wake of the verdict discussing the verdict and race related issues. As I have sat and listened to debate after debate, in depth analysis and tempered opinions on "The Verdict" I couldn't help but feel helpless, frustrated, hurt and yes, angry. As I plummet into the labyrinth of my mind in search of answers, solutions, or a way I could help subdue the burning desire for things to change, my only recourse was to start writing. Presume we step back and take pause for a moment. Pause to take a cultural and personal inventory on where we have come as a people. As oppose to being blinded by the present emotional and economical condition of our nation, our community. What if we begin by acknowledgin...

Yesterday Solange didn't just take to Twitter with her frustrations over the non guilty verdict in the Trayvon Martin murder case but she also took to Borough Hall in Brooklyn for a rally she helped organized. Along with Solange, who held a plaque bearing the words of the late great Malcom X ,   were hundreds of people who came in agreeance peacefully. Seeing & gathering with people today/tonight all for the same fight helped to restore my faith in humanity... pic.twitter.com/oid0vuBJfU — solange knowles (@solangeknowles) July 15, 2013

One year ago today the life of 17 year old Trayvon Martin was violently taken away after being fatally shot. Today I give the shooter no acknowledgement but vow to honor and never forget Trayvon Martin.  Photo: Shepard Fairey
