Let me first say that I regularly watch Saturday Night Live and did not tune in solely for Rihanna but I did stay up solely for Rihanna...and her scarves. And I wasn't the only one. It's sounding like it!! Taraji P. Henson has always been haute shit to me (and it doesn't hurt that she is a DMV local) but it looks like the masses didn't catch on until Empire but that's cool... we she'll take it. Anywho, with her first stint as a host on Saturday Night Live over the weekend Taraji has finally arrived (to the masses) and with appearance now there's talks of a memoir according to USA Today. The 37 INK/Atria Publishing Group announced Thursday it will publish the as-yet-untitled memoirs by the Oscar-nominated Henson, whose role as the scenery-chewing, finger-wagging Cookie has made her a breakout star of the hit Fox series. I really pray folks aren't thinking Cookie Lyon is writing a book nor that Taraji's life is anything like that... Go, Taraji!! source

Check out Saturday Night Live alum  Kristen Wiig as she hands over her jokes for a Sia wig and dance beside   Maddie Ziegler who originally starred in Sia's " Chandelier " video and the show Dance Moms . Although I found this performance to be perfection and I want NONE of the time it spent to find a video that actually played back many people (people who don't follow Sia") had things negative things to say about the performance (just got to a much more popular blog and read the comment).  The mere fact that the stage looked like an actual video set, Sia's still giving us her ass to kiss on stage while giving a grand performance and the fact the Kristen, mostly known for comedic acting, straigh...

Saturday Night Live is not playing with the addition of more minorities on their show. Can someone tell me where to apply? I will sweep up after the skits? Anywho, veteran comedian Leslie Jones is the newest female comedian to join the cast and she just so happens to be an African American... mmm hmmm . You may not know her name but you've had to have seen her before in stand up or in movies where she always played stereotypical roles. But today thangs have changed. In a way I knew things were looking up for Jones having just saw her last week in the trailer for Chris Rock 's upcoming flick Top Five . Leslie's not that new to the SNL scene. She has been writing for SNL for a few months now and even made a controversial debut appearance on the sketch comedy back in May. Congrats, Leslie...you paid your dues!!

Drake hosted his first episode of Saturday Night Live this weekend (Jan 18) garnering new fans and cheers from even his biggest haters. The above clip was one of my favs because I believed it showed off how extensive Drake's acting skills were. There's no secret the show was success for Drizzy but what's next? Unlike new fans I knew Drake could act (not just that he was on Degrassi ) and it would be only a matter of time before the actor returned to his roots...but when was the biggest issue. Do we think it's time for Drake to make an appearance on the big screen? I think it will be this year...especially now after the SNL buzz.

Drake appeared on Late Night With  Jimmy Fallon last night to promote his upcoming hosting gig this Saturday (Jan 18) on Saturday Night Live . During the interview the most notable news you've never heard was, Drake got high for the first time right before his first audition for the role of  Jimmy, which he ultimately landed, on Degrassi . Anndddddd she's African American!!! Miss Zamata is making history becoming only the fifth African American woman ever to be casted on the NBC sketch comedy. Sasheer's arrival comes on the heels of controversy majorly started by SNL cast members Kenan Thompson and Jay Pharoah due to the lack of diversity on the show. It was last fall that six new cast members joined the show and not one an AA comedian/actress. Well that's all changed now!!! Sasheer makes her debut on January 18...I can already see her as First Lady Michelle Obama side eyeing President Obama at Nelson Mandela's funeral. Mmmm mmmm ...I see you Lorne Michaels !! Whatevs, check out some of Sasheer's work.

Not only does Saturday Night Live need some African American females cast mates but a few more AA males at that. Luckily Nasim Pedra resembles Kim Kardashian if you squint and remember when she wore her white lace ensemble recently and Jay Pharoah only sounds like Kanye sometimes but when he does it's good. Check it out!! " the girls and Rob "...I can totally see Kanye getting fancy with his status and wealth when around Kim's friends and family.

Check out Lady Gaga and R. Kelly's performance of  " Do What U Want ", featured on Gaga's newly released ARTPOP album, live this past on SNL where the pop singer performed twice. Much better than I could have ever imagined. And speaking of R. Kelly, today he has released a few new pieces of work including a collabo with Justin Bieber " PYD " where you can hear the R&B singer's influence early on before he even sings. I'm not ready to believe Justin is having sex...yuck!!! But nice track... Also check out the remix to " My Story " featuring Katie Got Banz and Rockie Fresh.

“The producers of  Saturday Night Live  would like to apologize to Kerry Washington for the number of black women she will be asked to play tonight…Ms. Washington is an actress of considerable range and talent and also because ‘SNL’ does not currently have a black woman in the cast. As for the latter reason, we agree this is not an ideal situation and look forward to rectifying it in the near future…unless, of course, we fall in love with another white guy first.”  I love how SNL downplayed Kenan Thompson's comments about the lack of black female comedians on SNL since Maya Rudolph's character left.

This Saturday a preggers Kerry Washington is hosting SNL and party pooper Eminem will be performing live. Check out the two as the y promote their appearances. I'm watching (maybe recording) for three reasons: I want to see if Kerry will hide or confirm her pregnancy. I want to see a Scandal spoof. And I want to see if Eminem will do a skit and act like he enjoys life for just a moment...or two.

She sounds great live!! Great voice and moves!!

Kanye West has once again managed to distance his musical efforts from that of what we typically hear from his counterparts and unsurprisingly the music is great. Kanye had a super packed weekend debuting his new song " New Slaves " on 66 buildings across the globe on Friday night as well as performing the track for the first time live last night on Saturday Night Live as well as another new punk rock'ish track titled " Black Skinhead ". Kanye is tackling some typically super sensitive conscious topics in hip hop like slavery, selling out, and even  interracial dating in his new tracks. Check out last night's SNL performance's as well as one broadcast of "New Slaves" in LA along with crowd reviews. " I move my fanily out the country so you can't see where I stay " - KW   Is Kanye becoming an activist? Could it be the the birth of his child with a woman outside his race which may be triggering this expansi...

Kanye West will  be performing for his fifth time on Saturday Night Live's finale episode tomorrow. In the promo video Kanye West appears beside tomorrow's show host Ben Affleck and show cast member Fred Armisen as the threesome try and record the perfect promo skit. A sarcastic West appears wearing a band aid in the exact spot he bumped his head last week and surprisingly appearing very on board for the show's antics letting a bit of his humorous side show. Something tells me we're going to be getting at least one skit from Kanye tomorrow night...maybe a five timers' club skit like Justin Timberlake did.

Saturday Night Live's Bill Hader, who is best known by me for playing Stefon the hilarious  'city correspondent'  on Weekend Update , is saying good bye to show after 8 years on the show's upcoming finale. Bill announced his departure just days (yesterday) before the season finale this Saturday (May 18) a New York Times interview . “It got to a point where I said, ‘Maybe it’s just time to go.’ ” - Bill Hader Bill won't be the only SNL veteran leaving soon. Writer and  Weekend Update anchor Seth Meyers is leaving the sketch comedy next year to take over Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and allegedly Jason Sudeikis and Fred Armisen to purse other opportunities. While nothing new has been announced for good with Bill Hader as far as work he does plan to move to California to be with his filmmaker wife Maggie Carey while pursuing other projects with four animated films already completed and three live action features. ...

Mr. West will be in the Saturday Night Live building (the GE building) on May 18 to close out season 38 with some of his awesome music. Justin Timberlake just so happens to be one of my favorite Saturday Night Live hosts, alongside previous cast members, and it just so happens that SNL loves to bring Justin back on for the gig regularly and this past Saturday he just that. On the heels of his newest studio album The 20/20 Experience release not only did Justin host and do a few skits but he also hit the SNL stage twice once with Jay Z for their new single 'Suit & Tie'. Check it out. I see Justin kinda gave Kanye West his diss back with the "rappers acting dramatic" line.

Last night NBC's The Voice opened with the judges, Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, Cee-Lo Green and Blake Shelton leading a choir of 26 in a rendition of Hallelujah in honor of the Newtown victims. While singing the camera zoomed in as the choir held up the names and ages of the 26 people who lost their lives at Sandy Hook Elementary this past Friday (Dec. 14).  Saturday Night Live also paid their respects by having New York City Children's Chorus on to sing Silent Night at the opening of Saturday's show.
