VIDEO: Celebrity Mean Tweets No. 9

Image
Jimmy Kimmel and some of his celebrity friends have teamed up for another edition of  Celebrity Mean Tweets.  Basically Jimmy films celebs reading awful tweets about them...very hilarious,. Check out how Viola Davis , Michael B. Jordan , Sean Penn and more react to just a snippet of the outlandish things that are said about them via Twitter. Is it me or was Sara Paulson really mad?

Congratulations to  Viola Davis  for making Emmys history as well as  Regina King  and  Uzo Aduba  on their Emmy wins!! "You let me be me." We might've teared up a little at @UzoAduba 's #Emmys acceptance speech, NBD. pic.twitter.com/YDuAreM1VZ — Glamour (@glamourmag) September 21, 2015 So proud of these women and the platform that they stand on. This has been such a great year for African American actors/actresses...I see y'all. Allllllllll y'all!!!

Taraji P. Henson Helps Make Emmy History

Image
My hometown girl,in my mind, Taraji P. Henson has just made history, along with Viola Davis,  becoming thee first TWO African American actresses to be nominated at the same time for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series at the 2015 Emmys. Taraji scored her nomination for her role as Cookie Lyon on the hit Fox hip hop drama Empire . This is also the first Emmy nomination for Henson as well. Although this sounds like great news for Empire there is a bit of scandal here. Empire did not garner any other nominations other than Henson. Since the shows premiere in January of this year it has received nothing but rave reviews so you can imagine how many people thought the writers and other actors such as Terrence Howard would be nominated but they weren't. “Really? Wow. That’s a real surprise. I don’t do the show by myself. And Cookie is nothing without Lucious. She is nothing without her family.” - Henson's reaction to the snubs. However the show's costum...

NY Times Critic Slams Shonda Rhimes

Image
Before we get into this read please let the record show that Shonda Rhimes is NOT the creator of ABC's new show How To Get Away With Murder starring Viola Davis . Now, NY Times critic Alessandra Stanley has once again stuck her foot in her mouth. The sketchy critic is the author of an article criticizing executive producer  Rhimes  for  the "angry black women" she creates on screen  coupled with a few stereotypical insults towards Ms. Davis and black women in general. This chick is nuts, all over the place and most of all in need of some attention in which she did get from Shonda via Twitter. Confused why @nytimes critic doesn't know identity of CREATOR of show she's reviewing. @petenowa did u know u were "an angry black woman"? — shonda rhimes (@shondarhimes) September 19, 2014 There's more where this tweet came from but let's get into this horrible display of work... On Thursday, Ms. Rhimes will introduce “How to Get ...

Congratulations Are In Order....Viola Davis & Octavia Spencer!!!

Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer woke up a little different this morning than they ever did before…as Screen Actors Guild (SAG) winners. Both Ms. Davis and Ms. Spencer won two awards for their roles in the film The Help . It was some night for the movie for and the two women. Viola Davis took home the SAG award for Outstanding Performance By A Female Actor In A Leading Role and Octavia Spencer took home the award for Outstanding Performance By A Female Actor In A Supporting Role as well as both women winning for the Outstanding Performance By A Cast In A Motion Picture. This is the first win for Ms. Davis but this was her second time around being nominated. In 2008 she was she nominated for an Oscar for her role in Doubt . This is the first of what I hope to be many for Ms. Spencer. Next up is the Oscars and everybody knows that most of these award shows follow suit in the winners category…lets keep our fingers crossed for Viola and Octavia. My boy Steve Buscemi also won big la...

Viola Davis on the cover of Essence

Image
I really like how Essence is getting away from the usual plain backdrop and brightening things up a bit for the summer issues... Funny thing is, yesterday I was watching a Law & Order: SVU taken straight from the headlines or something like that marathon on USA and noticed that Viola Davis had a reoccurring role as a defense attorney. Never knew that, I actually don't know much about Mrs. Davis but that her and Taraji P. Henson were both nominated for Academy Awards the same year.
