CBS' latest big summer swing, the one that lured  Halle Berry  to TV, debuted on Wednesday night after almost a year of fanfare, but the first episode of  Extant  came up short of what were undoubtedly loftier ratings goals. Though it averaged a strong 9.4 million viewers, it averaged only a 1.7 rating among adults 18-49. Source Typically I don't post about ratings but because this is Halle Berry , one of my favs, and I actually watched this show so I'll talk a little about it. Anywho, Halle Berry's new Steven Spielberg produced sci-fi show Extant premiered last night on CBS. Typically I would hate a show of this nature but again it's Halle Berry, I was fascinated by the first couple events of the show and most importantly I'm not here to see Halle fail. Now, the show is out there. Very out there but not so much so that people would hate it. If you can watch vampires, werewolves or any other thingamajinga that would make you run on a crowded street...

Hip hop moguls Jay Z and Sean Diddy Combs are going in a different route these days with their brands enlisting a roster of youthful name ringers. Jay Z's Roc Nation recently signed on to manage Sasha and Theo Spielberg , a brother/sister DJ duo who go by Wardell , children of Steven Spielberg . Sasha and Theo. Not letting Jay show him up, Diddy has called on Kylie Jenner , rapper Lil Twist and his own son Christian Combs to promote and market his Revolt TV on and off the network. It looks like big names using big names for big business...out of all the names named I only see one person who actually needs a job.

Halle Berry and her husband of 3 months Olivier Martinez I'm sure are overjoyed at this moment at the arrival of their baby boy on October 5 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. This is Berry's second child, she has a 5-year-old daughter from a previous relationship, and the first for Martinez. No name has yet to be announced. In work related news, Halle Berry has signed on to star in the Steven Spielberg drama Extant for CBS. Halle is set to play an astronaut returning to Earth from solo space mission.
