Jay Z Gives Drake The Not So Pleasant Shout Out In New Song
Drake tried it last month in an interview with Rolling Stone where he was believed to have taken a cheap shot at Jay Z. In the interview Drake did the ultimate industry no no by criticizing Jay Z's lyrical content.
Drake is interested in art, but he scoffs at how trendy art shout-outs have become in rap. "It's like Hov can't drop bars these days without at least four art references!" he says. "I would love to collect at some point, but I think the whole rap/art world thing is getting kind of corny."
Drake had to know this wasn't going to come off right especially during a time that his and Jay's budding friendship was starting to get press.
Being the lyrical genius that he is Jay responded to the hidden diss in a new song (the track has disappeared from the 'net) with Jay Electronica.
“Sorry Mr. Drizzy for so much art talk/ Silly me rappin’ ’bout shit that I really bought.”Short and simple. Jay's corny is expensive and what he is saying is the TRUTH and You (Drizzy) will deal.
Here's my thing, if you don't like something turn the channel. Drake likes art (his words) so why in the hell would what Hov does with his like matter? If you think it's corny to talk about art then DON'T. You can still buy it and not brag but when you chastise someone for liking what they like and actually being honest about what he says in a rap it's mad corny if you ask me. BTW, I still love Drake to pieces but couldn't be biased...
