Oprah ReunitesThe Cast Of 'A Different World'
In late October fans of the hit NBC show A Different World will be able to see the cast reunite with Oprah Winfrey on ONW's Oprah: Where Are They Now?.
It's been more than two decades since the hit sitcom A Different World, the first television show about campus life at a historically black college, went off the air. Now, Oprah reunites members of the beloved cast and explores how the show resonated with its audience. To this day, Cree Summer, the actress who played Winifred "Freddie" Brooks, says she hears from fans who credit A Different World for inspiring them to go to college.Although it's obvious from the video below some of your favs may be absent, but after 25 years the mere thought of an onscreen reunion for one the most prolific American Americans shows is well worth it.
Jasmine Guy—best known as Southern belle Whitley Gilbert—says Bill Cosby, the show's creator, is the one to thank for the positive impact. "That's the genius of Dr. Cosby," Jasmine says. "He understood the power of the medium, and so he chose a setting that would influence people as well as make them laugh."
Let's check out the show's promo with Jasmine Guy, Kadeem Hardison, Darryl M. Bell, Dawnn Lewis, Cree Summer, Sinbad, and Debbie Allen.
I would have loved to have seen Bill Cosby and Jada Pinkett Smith make it to this reunion...
Anywho, tune into OWN on October 29 at 9/8c for the Hillman College alum reunion.
